Marylin Laurent was born in the Bronx (NY) in the winter of 1973, but her youthful years were spent in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. Quite the timid one, she was often misunderstood, but she would soon find her wings through the infinite marriage of words. Captivated at first by drawing and drama, she realized later on that she expressed her feelings better once her words and her inner-self were put together.

In 1993, Marylin moved back to New York. Up until then, she had been writing poetry as her refuge from the daily life, and from society. Someone once told her that she was a dreamer, that her thoughts of reality were just dreams. Indeed, loving her dream world, she developed a passion for writing that she has been more than ready to share with the world.

Her living hope is to positively impact those whose hearts have been touched by her words. She has clearly made the decision to pursue her desire of inspiring others through her books. As she continues to “dream”, the price she pays is to face her personal nightmare of a constant longing for peace and happiness. The only means of soothing her soul has been and continues to be her beloved poetry.

Marylin has discovered self-acceptance, self-love and self-gratification that she feels compelled to express through metaphors.
